TEA AND CAKE CEREMONY
28th April from 11.30 am at Bread & Co, Warwick, CV34 4HU
Warwick’s famous Smith Street is where you’ll be able to find the ‘Tea of the Trail’ and ‘Cake of the Trail’ from ‘Tea Trail No 1: Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire’ Elizabeth Dacy Jones’s latest offering – a poetic guidebook series that reverses the normal order of trip planning and suggests ensuring ‘tea and restore’ points are taken care of before deciding what to see. Golden Monkey Tea Company’s ‘Shakespeare Blend’ is the ‘Tea of the Trail’ and Bread & Co’s Lemon Drizzle Cake is ‘The Cake of the Trail’.
The ‘Tea and Cake Ceremony’ to present awards is a ‘Jenny Lee Tea’ [raising money to fund local grass roots projects – brainchild of Joanna Bruce MBE, niece of Jennifer Worth, writer of the Call the Midwife trilogy] on Monday 28th April from 11.30 to 12.30 at Bread & Co.
All welcome – it’s a ‘Golden Coin’ event (you donate whatever you like) with free tea of the trail, biscuits and tasters of the Lemon Drizzle Cake and poetic tasters from the book by Elizabeth and ‘Mr Darcy’ (Editor and contributor Chris Barltrop). A grant from The Jenny Lee Teas Project Fund made publication of this first ‘Tea Trail’ possible.
Guest of honour – Mrs Tibbs the tabby cat. Cat of at least 2 lives who was presumed dead when book went to print and reappeared so she could get in on the action. Immortalised in Bread & Co’s poem in the book, ‘Boiled Egg and Soldiers Please’ and described as seducing angels – but clearly didn’t enjoy their company as much as humans…
